For some reason, after the last Carbonite update (1.7), about 3 out of 4 times WoW will crash while loading the UI. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem? Included is the dump file for more info..

Please note I have checked the following to see if it was a memory issue:

• Swapped RAM from another box.
• Changed what drive my swap file is on.
• Reinstalled Windows.
• Reinstalled World of Warcraft via Download.
• In addition, I have set it to load in Compatibility Mode with Windows XP and Windows 2000 with the same results.
• I reset my WTF Folder
• As a final effort, I disabled all add ons except for Carbonite and it still does it.

It still has the same issues. If I disable Carbonite, it loads just fine. Carbonite Quest works fine as well, though I would like to be able to use the full version I paid for.

One last thing that strikes me as strange. When it finally does load, it loads just fine with no lag, and all features work perfectly.

 I'm using Windows XP Professional 64-Bit. Running a Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz with 4 GB RAM, and a 512 MB NVidia 8600 GT.

I have similar issues after upgrading. Forgot to keep the screenshot of it, but i will next time i get online. I am playing on a macbook Pro (OS X) so the error displayed isnt exactly the same but same thing is happening: Crash in UI load/reload UI 3-4 (about) of the times.

 Tried deleting WTF folder

Turning off all addons but Carb

(The problem only causes me to crash with carb active/loading). Haven't had time to be much online the last few days, but will post more extensive info on my crash msg as soon as possible (if it is of any help to the dev.)

Unfortunately that is a standard address access error, which tells me nothing of what the addon may have been doing when the game crashed. I would suggest deleting the Carbonite.lua saved variables file, but you already did that. Adding options to disable features, would be the only way to debug that.

Hey, thought i should give this thread a little update. I am still experiencing issues with using carbonite. Me loading in a character can have 3 different endings:

1) Carbonite loads in fine

For this to happen i need to delete the carbonite.lua file and it will only work for the first UI load/load-in. I f i relog or reload UI my wow crashes

2) My wow crashes with the following errorbox (macbookpro running leopard):

After this happens i need to restart wow turn of Carbonite in order to play (or delete the lua file again and try to load in carbonite

3) the last version is a UI error message saying:

I am allowed to run wow as normal, carbonite is loaded in (minimap button is showing) but i cannot use it. The error pops up whenever i try clicking on the icon or use M to activate map etc

(The error is the same with and without other addons running)

Any help or suggestions would be awsome. waited a bit with posting as i was hoping it was a minor thing that was fixed in 1.71 but  i really want to start using my carbonite again. So any suggestions or help is welcome.

Thanks to this error message and some Google searching, I think it may be caused by the minimap being moved into the Carbonite map. I found another minimap addon that some users were having a similar crash with. It may be Mac specific, since the graphics code that the assert is happening in probably has different behavior between Windows and Mac.

I added code to force the minimap to always stay on screen, which may fix the problem.

This will be in the next version.

 Try using 1.72. Some of the startup code has changed, the minimap is forced on screen and the item loading from the server now asks before running. That may change the error you get.
