Feature Request: WoW Minimap in Instances

I find the Carbonite map distracting when I do instances.  So much so that I've taken to disabling the mod whenever I 5-man.  But enabling and disabling mods all the time is realy annoying, so I'm wondering:

Is it possible to get a feature like "set the minimap alpha to 0 and hide all goals while in an instance" so I'm not distracted by a map of Tanaris with various quest goals on it behind my minimap while doing Zul'Farrak? :)

Does setting the minimap to fill the Carbonite map work for you? There is a keybinding for that "Toggle Full Size Minimap" or you can check the "Minimap toggles full size for instances" option on the Minimap options page. That is what I do in instances if I don't have Atlas installed, which I don't on one computer.

That's what I do.  Wait, what happens when Atlas is installed?  Maybe I'll go install Atlas.  I usually use Cartographer when I don't use Carbonite, 'cause it's like Atlas only awesome, but it doesn't play well with Carbonite, so it's been losing some love lately.  I'll give Atlas a try.

Anyway, tangent.  Back on topic: I do maximize it.  But I actually have a Carbonite map that isn't the same size/shape as the minimap.  So I have the outside world with quest objectives sticking out the bottom of my maximized/square minimap.  (This also means that it's still drawing the main map, which, if I have my minimap maximized, isn't realy necessary and is probably dropping my frame rate by 5 or so (and my friend's frame rate by 50)...) -- So I end up having to re-size my minimap when I go in an instance to try to make it so I'm not distracted by the background outside map (which is actually impossible, the way the minimap maximizing algorithm works, I always have at least one line of the outside world drawing when it's maximized -- this may be because I max-window windowed mode in a normal resolution on a wide screen...causes more problems with addon alignment algorithms than you'd expect... ) -- which then leads to more annoyance after the instance, when I need to re-size it back to "as large as I can fit without blocking my buffs or my button interface on the right side", which is also a surprising amount of work.  Seems like an automated "just go away now" toggle would save a lot of effort.

The Atlas maps get drawn inside the Carb map at the instance location. They are small so you have to zoom in and you need to right click the instance icon to toggle the map on. It will also toggle when you enter the instance. You can zoom in close and see any part of the Atlas map in detail. You still need to open the Atlas window if you want to read the instance text.

Getting the Carb map exactly square by dragging would not be easy. The minimap must be square and can't be clipped. I could just not draw the Carb map behind it, when the minimap is full size???

Cool, I'll go install Atlas.  Any reason you don't do something similar with Cartographer's instance maps?

Not drawing the Carbonite map when the minimap is full size could work for instances, but I wouldn't want that when I go into a cave....? :)

Cartographer does not actually have any map graphics. They piece together dozens of graphics from game art. That has more overhead, but does not require the addon come with maps. We may do that at some point, but using Atlas was simpler and their maps do look nice.

    So true...

Isn't it possible to make the Atlasmap zoom in automactily when you enter an instance? And maybe also track you in it?

No.  You can't track position in instances.

Middle click the map. Can't get coordinates in instances.
