Since I installed 1.73, after I kill a mob a window flickers on the left hand side of the screen, appearing and dissapearing so fast I can't tell what type of window it is. It happens on every mob kill, and has also happened once while just traveling. Do you have any solutions to this?

I think you have the same as me, see http://www.carboniteaddon.com/cs/forums/t/1208.aspx  I have some addons which show me the ah prices etc. and those cause a small dealy ;)

That is the new durability scanner added in 1.73. It also causes a short little glitch in frame rate as you leave combat. It annoys me too and I am working on a fix right now. There will be a 1.731 tonight or tomorrow with the fix. 

This is now fixed. The durability scanner is about 10x faster and does not use the standard tooltip.

Will be in tonight's version. 

 Whew. Glad to hear it was fixed. This thing was driving me crazy! I'm relieved to hear I don't have to go through each of my addons to narrow the problem down now like I thought I was going to have to do.

Thank God...I just spent most of my evening removing/adding mods to find out which one was the culprit.  I updated them all at once....don't think I'll do that again.

Well, I've been up all night, so tonight's version turned into a morning version. My brain is fried, but it all seems fine. The durability stuff is 10 times better/faster. Map Guide and POI icons look much nicer with the edges clipped.
