Yet Another Minimap Button Thread (Outfitter vs Carbonite)
Yep, you heard me. This has most likely been brought up before, but while searching for "minimap buttons", which is all I can think of to describe my dilemma, I came up with 120+ hits, and I really don't have time to sift through them all. I love this addon. Had it for a day now, and getting the hang of it. A bit advanced, but that's good. Recommended it to my guildmembers. However. I love other addons as well. And as anyone who uses lots of addons can tell you, lots of addons adds lots of buttons to your minimap. Most of these were moved perfectly to the minimap button frame that Carbonite uses. But one were not. The addon "Outfitter", which I love of course, apparently has a button on the loose. Now this isn't the biggest thing in the whole wide world, as Outfitter is still accessible through the Character Sheet screen, but it was a lot easier to switch to the RP / BG / Riding / Fishing / Normal gear by just clicking the button and choosing the name of the suit, instead of having to press C, press the little button in the upper right corner, scroll down to the suit you want, and click it. I don't know if this is a conflict between Outfitter and Carbonite, or if it's just Carbonite disliking the Outfitter button for some reason... but if you could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. PS. While I'm at it, could you please add a little more description on tracked quests? It's what I miss most from my days with QuestHelper. QH told you where to go, what you were looking for, and if applicable who you could kill to get it. Carbonite tells you where to go, what you're looking for, but does NOT show who you must kill to get it. As you seemingly take pride in being an addon that removes the need to switch between WoW and a web browser to look up quests, you should know I have repeatedly been forced to do just that because neither the quest description not Carbonite gave me sufficient directions. PS#2. Another thing I would appreciate is if you could log which FPs each character has. I find it very annoying when Carbonite tells my level 20 Priest to fly to a flight point I don't have in a level 45-55 zone, just to walk from there into the zone I'm currently in. Pretty sure these suggestions should really go somewhere else, but I'm writing anyway, so...

Re: Yet Another Minimap Button Thread (Outfitter vs Carbonite)
Outfitter allows the user to detach the button from the Minimap by holding down the "Alt" button. If you have dones this in the pasts the button has strange numbers set in its location. It is also not registered as a Minimap button at any point in time, it just uses the minimap frame as a refference.
So I assume your minimap is inside the carbonite frame and therefore Outfitter doesnt know where to reference from so the button never appears.
If Fataal could give me some information on how a normal minimap button is referenced/found by carbonite, I can make sure outfitter has the changes made. (Or atleast I can get Mundocani to do it.)
:)
Hmmm, I set my birthday as 15 Mar 1975 in the about section but its shown as the 16 Mar 1975.
woot!! I get to live an extra day..

This is a weird bug. I grabbed the latest version 4.2.6 and no minimap button. I uncheck "Show Minimap Button" on their options window and
check it again and there it is docked on the Carb minimap button
window. The Outfitter button on login is docked to the Carb window and IsShown is true, yet IsVisible is false. That should never happen since the parent at that point is the Carb window and it is shown, so IsVisible should be true. You follow that. :) I put a check for that wacky combination and do a Show if it happens, which fixes it. Tristaelis:While I'm at it, could you please add a little more description on tracked quests? Working on it. This is a two step process. The next version will have a basic version of that and after we get the database format modified will do an advanced version of it. Tristaelis:Another thing I would appreciate is if you could log which FPs each character has.
Yes, that would be a part of a future routing update.

That seems to have happened when I alt dragged it and then Carb docked it back. Then I disabled minimap in Carb map and the button was off screen with some -1800 x value. Setting minimap back in Carb map found it again, since the reference is enough.

When you extend the Questing Features in Carb., please add an Option to also Route the Player to completed Quest Points (the Questionmarks on the Map). Because, often when i am Questing and just watching the Carb.Minimap , i am missing Questionmarks i could have visited when i was near, just because Carb. did not route me to them. ;)

If Carbonite knows about a quest location and you tell it to track it or the "Auto Track" button is on, it will point you to that location. The yellow exclamation or question marks, just like tracking dots, are drawn into the minimap frame using internal game code. That data cannot be read by any addon.

Okay, did a test and that actually does work - going through your Character Sheet, clicking the Outfitter menu, then click the Options tab, and unmarking and remarking Show Minimap Button does actually set it to be in the minimap button field. You still have to do it every time you log in, but as a quickfix, I'm happy with it until a more permanent solution is produced by either the Carbonite or Outfitter developers. faatal: Tristaelis:While I'm at it, could you please add a little more description on tracked quests? Yes, that would be a part of a future routing update. Fantastic, as soon as that's done I don't think there's anything QH can do better than Carbonite.

I fixed this by turning off the Carb minimap docking, Left clicking on the Outfitter Button and dragging, this seems to reset the position back to a standard minimap buttons. Then reenable the Carb Docking and it seems to be fine.
/Script Outfitter:ErrorMessage(gOutfitter_Settings.Options.MinimapButtonX); /Script Outfitter:ErrorMessage(gOutfitter_Settings.Options.MinimapButtonY); /Script Outfitter:ErrorMessage(gOutfitter_Settings.Options.MinimapButtonAngle);
The above lines will print where OUTFITTER thinks it should be showing the botton.
If the MinimapButtonAngle is nil then it assumes that the button has been ALT dragged.
IF the instructions above do not work for you, you could go into your World of warcraft\WTF\Account\#Account Name#\#Realm Name#\#Toon Name#\SavedVariables\Outfitter.lua
Delete the following Lines
["Options"] = { ["MinimapButtonX"] = 847.9237923536971, ["MinimapButtonY"] = 123.0675887806069, },
The numbers (847, 123) will obviously be different for you.
This will FORCE outfitter to recreate the Minimap button

Rightio, I don't know if Cartographer saves the position of the minimap if you turn off the docking, so I tried your second alternative first. However, all I could find that at all reminded of what you wrote were: ["Options"] = { ["MinimapButtonAngle"] = -1.595487205815516, }, Tried deleting that (with a CTRL+X just to be sure), and what happened was only that each time I go to Outfitter from my Character Sheet, I get the LUA error as following: Interface/AddOns/Outfitter/Outfitter.lua: 3180: attempt to index field 'Options' (a nil value) And that's all. I guess I'll have to try disabling the docking... and in worst case, spend yet another hour getting the miminap just the scale and position I want. Update: I'm in luck, all the variables were saved and I didn't have to adjust the minimap after reenabling it. However, your solution did not work for me. ALT-dragged it out from the minimap a great deal, then redragged it without ALT, and yes, it snaps back to the minimap. Still no button in the Carbonite minimap button field though.

The button hidden fix will be in the next Carb version.
