    Request: Multiple requests

Hi, thanks for a great addon, allthough i have a few requests i would love to see implemented (feel free to let me know if any of those are allready in the addon and how to turn it on):

    1) The possibility to set up waypoints/personal questing/farming routes with multiple waypoints (when done at point A then goto point B, then go to C and so on). I assume this is something the route beta is suposed to handle perhaps (?)

    2)  The possibility to lock the tracking HUD making it nonclicable/alterable unless i enter the menu (i keep clicking on it moving it/changing cursors etc really annoying)

    3)  Ultimately i would like the normal map to contain my minimap info such as herb nodes present (not only herb node possibility at this location), ofc when i am in range such as on the minimap. Also, making the normal map pingable (atleast displaying the pings) would have been awsome.

    4) Instance map with the option of displaying loot/possible drop (either an own database to make it more lightweight or compatible with cartographer loot/atlas loot -> more memory intensive)

    5) The possibility to track drop locations for items/goods, e.g. i want to farm clefthoof leathers, where have i farmed those earlier /density of my drops etc

    Okay we will. :)

    Thritian:

Always do searches (Faatal's first post in this thread) and check ToDo list before posting, thanx!

    Thritian:

    2)  The possibility to lock the tracking HUD making it nonclicable/alterable unless i enter the menu (i keep clicking on it moving it/changing cursors etc really annoying)

This feature already exists (read this thread) in the current implementation of Carbonite.

    Thritian:

    3)  Ultimately i would like the normal map to contain my minimap info such as herb nodes present (not only herb node possibility at this location), ofc when i am in range such as on the minimap. Also, making the normal map pingable (atleast displaying the pings) would have been awsome.

Not sure about the tracking of 'present' mine/herbs.

Also not sure about pinging since I've never met anybody who used it that much.  You could do what lots of folks do in the meantime - keep your Blizz minimap and just display Carb's right underneath.

    Thritian:

    4) Instance map with the option of displaying loot/possible drop (either an own database to make it more lightweight or compatible with cartographer loot/atlas loot -> more memory intensive)

Check the FAQ on the main menu. Atlas has full compatibility.

    Thritian:

    5) The possibility to track drop locations for items/goods, e.g. i want to farm clefthoof leathers, where have i farmed those earlier /density of my drops etc

Faatal will hafta speak on whether he wants all that - the only thing I see in the ToDo list that helps here is a line about MiniMap MobMap* icons.  Faatal do you plan on adding MobMap support to the tracker and log? (only reason I don't use those two features)

In the meantime checkout MobMap* and MobInfo.  Two very indispensable addons at least until Carb takes over those niches.

OK, I don't see anything about the tracking hud in this thread. The tracking arrow doesn't have a close button, so the current method to lock a window doesn't exist. Am I just blind? Thanks.

    Re: Request: Multiple requests

tnx for the answer, about a few of the things you write.

Requesting such features is just as much a request for a proper documentation (that is readable) on the addon, not having to spend hours on the forums reading up to finally figure i out.

    About pinging:

Having a good pinging feature is imo essential to end game raiding. Fair enough that there are temp solutions, but really doesnt cover my 'need'.

About making carbonite compatible with other addons:

Also nice being able to use other modules/addons along with Carbonite, but considering the memory use of the addons its not tempting nor desirable to i.e. install atlas loot ontop of carbonite when i would rather see that carbonite handles this feature  (and others) instead of having to install large addon modules for single features

Nope, your not blind - I just thought the subject here was the tracking window.  Nobody said "arrow" so I just assumed thats was not what was being discussed.  From now on, it would be good to call this feature the "waypoint arrow".

Strangely, I thought the lock feature existed but I am wrong.  I must have been thinking of another addons WP arrow.

I really hate to be the one to say this, but if you don't learn now to try and find things yourself, you will be hated and flamed on the forums.  TRUST me.  This is NOT about making you seem stupid or anything, its just advice so you don't do it again and then peeps wouldn't be so nice about it.

You did not look at the FAQ for this product - which is a big no-no and should be the first area you search for answers on.  FAQs are considered "documentation" just like you requested.

And you not only did not take "hours" to read up and search for your answers, but you didn't read up OR search AT ALL - as proven by doing a quick search for "Multiple waypoints" using the search feature.  Your answer to this question came right up.

So next time give reading and searching a try and if you cant find your answers then feel free to post that you found something hard to find and then hopefully it will be taken care of.

Yeah - as I think about it I can see the need in organized raids.  I just havent done enough of them to ever see it in use.

Okay after reading ur post it seems as thought you were looking for Carb to handle this EITHER using its own database, or by making it compatible with AtlasLoot.  You said (and I'm adding a couple words here to show you how it reads to me:

"4) Instance map with the option of displaying loot/possible drops (either it's own database to make it more lightweight OR make it compatible with cartographer loot/atlas loot -> more memory intensive)"

Therefore I thought I was answering properly when saying Atlas was compatible.  I didn't know you wanted Carb to implement that feature and nothing else.

    Re: Request: Multiple requests

I appriciate the help, dont get me wrong, but you are doing an awfull lot of assumptions of what other people do ingame/RL. Finding the topic about multiple waypoints would require knowledge that the searchword would be multiple waypoints (the answer you linked to was posted under 'questhelper debate' using the word 'multiple waypoints' within the post. Not using questhelper nor knowing the term would be 'waypoint arrow' to begin with, the answer you reffered to was cloaked to me untill you pointed me in that direction (tnx for the link btw)). FAQ is idd a very valid source of documentation, but i have read through the FAQ, it says compatible with [something] yet doesnt tell how the input/output of this intregration is inside carbonite. I also spent 3-4 hours trying to get up to date on what had allready happened within the addon. Failing to see how an addon is implemented hardly qualifies as not spending time nor effort on trying to understand it.

Nice to see that the forums are working with people answering and helping out fataal on the obvious answers, if my post annoys you you are not obligated to answer to it, but it might be worth thinking through that allmost 'every other post' is requesting content that allready exists or has been implemented before, thus my point of a more thourough and easy accesible (in depth) documentation about the addons content.

I Love the addon, love the quick replies and the dedication from the development team, but dont shoot the messenger for asking about something that might seem obvious to others.

/end of what started out as an innocent question and developed into something else.

But back on track with what i intended to understand with this post/request:

    a) the >> waypoint arrow << is not lockable, or did i get this wrong?

edit: found the lock for this at the end.it is only accesible through rightclicking the minimapbutton it seems, (found it after going through basically every other feature in the addon) i do not use minimap icons on any other addons, so didnt cross my mind that the option menu and the minimap menu would be different from eachother.

    b) Pinging directly on the map is not an option in the current version of carbonite, for pings the minimap must be visible

    c) Seing the present nodes (as displayed on the minimap) is not an option for the regular map as it is not accesible information for addons in general to use (called 'minimap tracking dots' in the FAQ section)

    d) Carbonite does not have an internal instance map (and loot) database, but relies on other (compatible) addons to solve this task. My request for an internal (and less memory heavy) solution still stands (?)

(comment: I should have pinpointed that i would have preffered an internal instance database within carbonite rather than just (memory heavy) addon support for it)

    e) Several others have requested the possibility to make custom routes with several waypoints organized in a sequential order (Go to A then to B then to C), one solution is what fataal wrote about making it task list based (like the idea), i'd like to add in that a feature like this would be awsome if you could simply rightclick the map and click set waypoint in adition to organizing such waypoints in a task list

    f) Tracking of itemdrops/tradegoods is not a feature present in the current version of carbonite. Would be awsome if this was implemented as an option. It could be displayed as hotzones on the map based on your previous farms (would require a database one could alter (easy search, easy sustomization, e.g. show hotzone(s) search: talbuk meat)

    think that was all =)

    sidenote:

might be my browser bugging (firefox3) but the Forum » Public » In development / Wish list appears as an empty forum section (even when logged in), only way for me to find 'The List' was backtracking in through other peoples posts and links (screenshot of my browser PoV: Link)

Not a problem. I probably would have said waypoint arrow, but it is listed in the Options page of the addon as "Tracking HUD" so that's why I called it that. ;-) Thanks for the quick responses and sorry for the confusion.

It was not a bug ... it was the age filter ... clickong more options opened advance settings one of which allowed you to show posts older than XXXX ...

anyway it seems he made it so it would show now so it has been "fixed"

Thanks, didnt see that there was an age filtering active, and yep, default settings has changed since yesterday (for me atleast)

I found the setting for that today and changed it to 12 months. Was annoying me too.

    Re: Request: Multiple requests

Been really busy trying to get the next version finished, so I've been holding off answering some of the feature request type of posts.

    Thritian:
Pinging directly on the map is not an option in the current version of carbonite, for pings the minimap must be visible

Added pinging of minimap when shift left click Carbonite map near player location. Be in next version.

    Thritian:

Have plans for some of that. Running the base Atlas addon so we can use the maps uses very little memory, since only the displayed instance map is loaded.

    Thritian:
Several others have requested the possibility to make custom routes with several waypoints organized in a sequential order (Go to A then to B then to C), one solution is what fataal wrote about making it task list based (like the idea), i'd like to add in that a feature like this would be awsome if you could simply rightclick the map and click set waypoint in adition to organizing such waypoints in a task list

You can already ctrl click the map to make a "goto" or right click and use the "Goto" in the menu. Shift ctrl clicking adds additional targets to the existing ones.

    Thritian:
Tracking of itemdrops/tradegoods is not a feature present in the current version of carbonite. Would be awsome if this was implemented as an option. It could be displayed as hotzones on the map based on your previous farms (would require a database one could alter (easy search, easy sustomization, e.g. show hotzone(s) search: talbuk meat)

Maybe after some of these other features are done.

    Re: Request: Multiple requests

Youre right it didn't occur to me that someone wouldn't call it the waypoint arrow, prolly since I've used different addons that used that thing for about 6 months now.

Since Faatal said he is implementing pings on the Carb map that would show on another players minimap, I think I'm gonna suggest something.  Wouldn't it be cool to ping your own map (or even make a "GoTo" on your map) and have it zoom other players in your party/raid that use Carb right to that spot, even if it is across the continent?  As in "Hey, Thritian, where is ShadowFang Keep?".  "Well, <other player>, it just so happens that I can show you by doing THIS!!! TADAAAA!!"   "Holy crap, Thritian, thats baddass!!  My map just opened and zoomed right toward it!"

    :D

EDIT: Forgot to say that I would rather Carb hook into Atlas rather that trying to duplicate what Atlas does.  The reason is Atlas is THE most popular addon of its kind, and has almost  NO complaints about it from users - including its memory footprint.  Too hard to sway users away from that -I mean i REALLY dont want another Atlas as I am so happy with it currently.

And I don't want Faatal putting in work on something that most users will turn off in favor of something else.

We have thought of such things. I just added sharing of favorites to the todo list. That and more would be cool.
