Please stagger the releases further apart!!!

I LOVE the product but I'm getting annoyed with the constant updates.  And for some reason it locks it out if I'm not 100% up to date.  This is madening!  Please either write an updater or stop forcing us to update so frequently.  My wife also uses the plug in so now I have to constantly update 2 machines just to play a game.  WoW addons shouldn't be such a chore.

Well on the contrary... please release them more often, I can't wait days or even week to use that new feature that will so help me with the leveling of the new toon ;)

I mean seriously, every release expires in a month or so, it is done so (I guess) cracked versions stop working so it is a program protection. And I doubt the 3 min work of downloading a zip file and extracting in addons folder once a month is that much of a hassle :p

There are two different things going on here:

    1. Your get a message saying a new version is available. That happens when someone logs into your server and they have a newer version than you. You then see a message, no user interaction required. Timer is set so you won't see it again for 8 hours. You don't need to update in this case, just keep on using what you have.

    2. You get an expired message. Your addon has disabled features. That happens because the version is past the expiration date, which is about a month after release. If you download the latest version, then you should have 3-4 weeks of not having to update depending on how many days ago it was released.

The expiration is there because our business model needs it. Many people buy short subscription lengths and since we sell Carbonite at a low price we cannot afford to keep letting them use it without paying again. Everyday we get many people asking to change their account character/server and there is no way to know if the new name is really a friend's account. The expiration prevents that from being a problem.

If we ever get around to writing that auto updater, then that will help.

I'm with DrunkenDonkey with this one. Keep the updates coming.... isn't that what we are paying for ???

Kartoom .. you have to be the first person I have ever heard complain a product updates with bug fixes and new features (and in the case of Carbonite new quest data) too many times ..

You are not forced to update .. at least not right away ... as faatal said you only get two messages .. if your geting the expired product one then you would have to update anyway .... if getting the update reminder once every 8 hours is too much you can turn that reminder off. This way you can check here once a month for an update...

faatal ... keep up the great work. It is much appreciated.

Guy's, I LOVE this product, and I love the updates, but man, having it shutdown completley is agravating as hell. I want to update the product when I get around to it.

The message box that pops every 10 minutes or so, please quit it, give us an option to click on that stops the out of date message box from popping up. I KNOW ITS OUT OF DATE AND EXPIRED, OK ?

Otherwise, its a fantastic product .

It was set to every 5 minutes. Changed to 30 minutes.

Oh like it's even that hard to update it... copy and paste a single file. Done in a minute.

No one made any comments on the difficulty of updating, nor am I complaining about the updates, it gives us a better product.

I play my 70 most of the time doing BG's raids etc. I only really utilize carbonite when I play alt toons. It might be a week or 2 before  I need to use Carbonite. I would like an option to disable the expired message completley after it has popped once , and update the product when I feel like it. I kind of feel bludeoned to death having it pop every half hour.

    -Cheers

Yeah....   I love the constant updates.  I also dont have any expirery issues that u guys have. Maybe cuz I bought a 6 month subscription - you save money for sure doing that!   I bought mine back in January...  i think it might expire soon  lol.

Carbonite = best quest tracker ever!!!    I wouldnt worry about the auto-updater anytime soon, it take like 5 seconds to download it, then about 5 more seconds to drag and drop the folder. Too easy.

You won't ever see an expiration message if you update once every week or two. So if you did something like I'll update Carbonite every Saturday before I start playing, then you would never see expired.

OHH!!  Well, I update it pretty much the next day after a new version is release or the night of, so I guess that's why I've never had that problem.

You don't have to restart, just load the new carbonite then /reload

You don't have to restart. With Wow open, copy carbonite over, then type '/reloadui'

That works fine except when new art or sound files are added. The game needs to be restarted for that type of data to load.
