ok how about this.. Stop locking the original quest log out.. disable the add on if you must.. but i should not have to stop what i am doing to go through updating an addon.. just let me get on with my tasks and i will update at next log on.. Some of you have a lot of time to play.. Some of us squeeze it in when we can and it takes longer than 3 minutes.. about 10 minutes start to finish.. having the new features is wonderful but the hassle is not

Im not being a jerk.. but at this point I wont buy another subscription.. I paid for a year and thats fine.. but If I am going to be aggravated by an add on not working it will be a free add on that way it wont be so aggravating.

If the add on up dated itself after I typed in a password that would be fine.. but the whole manual process is a pain

I thought about your comment that the business model required it..I see that.. makes sense.. but heres an idea.. cant you have it notify at the load screen that it didnt load?? or is out of date? that way you are not on a griffon halfway to BFE (Im thinking Tanaris here) when you figure it out. am I missing some easy way to get the blizzard quest log back in midgame??

Alt-L still works to open the original quest log when Carbonite is not validated.

Writing an auto updater program is something we would like to do sometime.

Addons are not loaded until you login to the game with a character. The "CARBONITE is not validated" message box appears about 10 seconds after you login.

The only problem I see people complaining about is the fact you guys work to hard.  Lol.  An automatic updater would do wonders for you guys.

why no actually, but thanks for asking, very kind of you.. But it was not whining, it was bringing up a problem and hoping for a solution, not inviting the rebirth of mildly amusing remarks that lost thier humor 30 years ago. By the way I hear they are having threes company re-runs later on cable.. dont miss it.

Now on to more intelligent conversation.. good points all except for 1 and it really seems to be at the root of the problem I have.. the ALT-L trick doesn't seem to work for me.. is there some setting I have missed or inadvertantly switched that would turn it off?  That would be why It gets on my nerves.. I cant see the quest log at all just the blank carbonite frame with no quests in it.. (see if it still had the list I would be good with it.. then I could at least remember where I was going. Thanks ..

Yep exactly.. I love carbonite.. (otherwise it wouldn't be a big deal when it wasnt working) so would it be possible to have the updater work as a plug in to IE7 or firefox??) which by the way.. of all the other add-ons that choked on the new patch.. carbonite did not.. thank you very much!

If Alt+L is not working then L should. There is a setting in the options to open the Carbonite log using Alt+L so depending on how you have it set one opens the Carb log and the other opens the Blizz log.

And if that doesn't work you can always look in WoW:s own keybindings and see if you can chang it back there.

Can you disable all other addons and see if it starts working? May be an addon conflict.

Re: Please stagger the releases further apart!!!

I wholeheartedly I agree here.. This update **** is getting on my last ****ing nerve man. I'm sorry, I do appreciate the hard work that goes into this addon and the wonderful benefits of owning it.. But ***** ******* *****, everytime I turn around it's deactivated and I have to download a new ****ing version. I purchased the god **** thing, it should be left up to me when to update it..

And Im sorry, but your ****ing "business model" is affecting your product functionality. In the ****ing world of common sense business:

SERVICE > businessmodel [if] business = a "SERVICE" [then] Business model = repeat-customers and word-of-mouth referals [else] you FAIL at business.

If you had said on the main page "this product will be unavailable until you jump through our update hoops about once a week" I'd have probably just skipped over this addon and used one of the free addons that do the same thing (albeit not as well).

Just because you see big software moguls demanding full access of their customers computers doesn't mean in order to run a successful venture in developement you need to do the same.

PLEASE work an option into the addon to disable this "auto turn off" feature! My play time is precious, as I work long hours, and I'm ****ing tired when I get home.. I dont feel like dicking with your software at YOUR whim...

I know that's harsh but I've ****ing had it with this crap.. It's a game.. it shouldn't be made to feel like work.

And to all you little emo fan-boys that'll flame this post for my "whining": stfu and mind your own ****ing business

It's interesting that a mere addon is causing this much stress in your life. Sorry dude.

Since you feel the way you do, I don't know why you are updating once a week. Each version that is released expires about 4 weeks after release, so get a new version and don't update for a month.

Saying that is simply encouraging them to flame you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Yeah opinions are like assholes, everyones got one and most of them stink.

Venro you can't possibly be serious. You joined on 7/12. There have been exactly TWO updates since then and one was a bug fix. Any idea how much of a raving lunatic you look like right now?

    Yep... including yours.

It's annoying.. Anything that hyjacks my system and forces me to deal with it's annoying "feature" while I'm trying to do something is irritating to me. You like it? Good for you. No one asked you.

Yah it makes me THAT angry. SO angry that I go onto a forum and throw a couple choice words at the developers to vent a bit. Big deal. Yah, what a "raving lunitic" I am. It's not as if I just kicked my dog and beat up an elderly lady over the whole thing. *gasp* "omg he's swearing" Big deal, I still conveyed my point. Grow a pair.

I simply was not in the mood to deal with it last night. I'm cool now. It still pisses me off, and I recommend you guys change this "business model" of yours. There's plenty of downloadable programs that update themselves that don't need to shut themselves off to ensure a paying clientele.

If it happens to me anymore I'm simply going to uninstall the addon. Problem solved.

I'm not going to apologize for blowing my top here though... Because you folks that responded with contempt for my post, really could have just it the back button and ignored it. Instead, you use it as an opportunity to boost your little e-peen and oh so coveted forum "ego" by acting all high and mighty (which someday you'll realize is no more admirable than my "raving lunacy") I know the forum game, so cut the ***. Like I said at the end of my post, mind your own business.

So while you sit there and point the finger at me... You're essentially doing the same thing..

Only I'm expressing my extreme displeasure with a product I paid money for... I have a purpose. You.. I'm not sure what your purpose is.
